Sir Hugh Casson, born 1910 in London where he still lives. Educated St. ]ohn’s College, Cambridge, British School, Athens. President of the Royal Academy from l976 to 1984. Professor of Environmental Design, Royal College of Art 1955- 75. An artist of exceptional gifts and versatility: architect, interior decorator, industrial designer, watercolour painter, stage designer, writer and broadcaster. He first came to public notice as Director of Architecture for the Festival of Britain for which he was knighted. For some years he has exhibited six travel sketches at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition.
