A message from Harlow Art Trust

From today, we are changing the name of our existing newsletter and social media channels from The Gibberd Gallery to Harlow Sculpture Town to better reflect all that we do. Next week we will also be sharing a brand new website, which has been developed to make Harlow's exceptional and growing collection of over 100 public artworks more accessible to everybody. Subscribers to this newsletter will still receive the latest Gibberd Gallery news, plus sculpture-related updates and events. When it is safe to re-open, the gallery will continue to host the Sir Frederick Gibberd Watercolour collection, as well as a programme of changing exhibitions and events with an emphasis on public art and sculpture.In the meantime, why not listen to Artistic Director Kate Harding discuss the history and ethos of Harlow Sculpture Town for Art UK's Art Matters podcast.
 
About Harlow Sculpture Town

In 1953 Harlow Art Trust set out with a mission to beautify the post-war New Town of Harlow by commissioning, purchasing and siting sculpture across its public spaces. Its founding members believed that public art should be more than mere decoration: it should be part of the fabric of everyday life and owned by the people who live and work around it. The project attracted some of the greatest artists of the 20th century, including Henry Moore, Barbara Hepworth and Elisabeth Frink.Today Harlow is home to an exceptional and growing collection of over 100 public artworks, a dedicated visual arts space in the heart of the town centre, and a growing community of people passionate about the town's sculptural heritage, with ambitious plans for the future.
