The gallery is currently staffed by the Artistic Director and a dedicated team of volunteers. Volunteers are responsible for providing a warm welcome, visitor assistance, and working on gallery operations including installing exhibitions. Harlow Art Trust (HAT) is a registered charity founded in 1953 to commission and care for sculpture in Harlow. The Trust has run the Gibberd Gallery since 2011 after taking it over from Harlow Council. Our Trustees have a wide range of professional experience and interest in the management, curating and production of the visual arts and all demonstrate on-going commitment to Harlow.

Staff

Kate Harding: Kate is Artistic Director of Harlow Art Trust. She has an MA in Art History from University College London and a background in gallery operations and arts administration. Among previous roles, she worked on Special Initiatives with the Arts Team at the Paul Hamlyn Foundation. 

Trustees

Liz Boast: Liz is a fine artist and printmaker (BA MA) with work in collections and museums, and a resident artist at Parndon Mill artists studios.

Simon Boyce: Simon is Head of Marketing at Harlow College and Harlow resident.

Alina Congreve: Alina has a PhD in Housing and Sustainability from University College London and a particular interest in New Towns.

David Jones: 

Kelly Lean: Kelly has over ten years' experience in arts management, and currently works at Royal Opera House Bridge

David Mitchinson: David is the former Head of Collections and Exhibitions at the Henry Moore Foundation, and the artist's longtime assistant. He has curated exhibitions in galleries, museums and outdoor spaces internationally.

James Smith: James is a photographer and visiting lecturer to Southampton Solent, Plymouth, Hertfordshire, UEA Rochester, Northampton, Bedfordshire & Westminster Universities. His work is housed in private and public collections nationwide.

Chris Snow: Chris is chair of Harlow Art Trust and runs his architecture practice Chris Snow Architects Ltd. He is also a Design Tutor at Kingston University School of Architecture, and member of Hertfordshire Design Review Panel.

The Friends of Harlow Sculpture is a voluntary group which supports both the Gibberd Gallery and Harlow Art Trust in promoting and caring for our town sculptures. They help finance and invigilate the gallery and promote awareness of the collections with guided tours and talks. They provide regular newsletters and interesting, relevant low cost excursions. They believe that taking ownership of the important works of art in Harlow, by their members, ensures their conservation and therefore the enjoyment for local people and the many visitors to the town.

Membership costs per annum:
£8 for adults
£5 for students and unwaged
£10 for organisations
