As part of the Gibberd Gallery outreach programme we are running a variety of fun free workshops for young people and families to get creative and make artworks which explore and celebration Harlow’s past, present and future.

We are looking for three artists who are experienced workshop facilitators. They should work with ambition and be well organised. Now in its fourth year the Young Curators programme is aimed to give the young people of Harlow and surrounding areas the opportunity to get hands on work experience in the arts and work towards the acredited Silver Arts Award.

Heritage Open Days

There are six events across the weekend of the 10th and 11th of September happening in Harlow so you can discover more about Harlow's architecture, collections and important history. Take a look at the Heritage Open Days website to find out more.

Harlow Sculpture Tours

Harlow is known as 'sculpture town' because of its large collection of sculpture, most of it belonging to the twentieth century. Many of the pieces in its collection are scattered among its housing estates, community shopping centres. The guided tours will cover those pieces of sculpture which are to be seen in the middle of Harlow. They include works by Elizabeth Frink, Lynn Chadwick, Henry Moore, Ralph Brown and Rodin. Well-informed members of the Friends of Harlow Sculpture will conduct the tours, which will each last a little over one hour.

Meet these free tours outside the Civic Centre on Saturday 10 September at 2pm 3pm or 4pm. Now need to book just turn up 5 minutes before the tour begins.

OPEN CALL for artists to exhibit in the 2016 Gatehouse Arts Secret Postcard‪ exhibition and charity auction‬. Have the opportunity to see your postcard size artwork exhibited in both galleries. FREE to enter, any medium, but it must be original artwork not photocopied or printed promo postcard. All the profits from the secret auction during the exhibition and the charity live auction will go to the two good causes of Friend of Harlow Sculpture Collection and the Gibberd Gallery and ACAVA.

Join us to celebrate the new curation of Harlow's Permanent Collection of 20th Century Watercolour and Drawing. The collection has new conservation glass and labels. 

Bring the kids along to explore the collection using new gallery interactions including worksheets and Ipads.
